Doodling...

I was at an event a week ago and I brought along one of my doodling books that I can carry in my (big) purse.  Over the course of the evening I worked on this mandala…I don't usually make them so intricate, but I like how this one turned out.

I'm trying my best to work with zentangles that are not "contained", but rather flow around the page…..and to use colour rather than just black sharpie.  This particular book is bound with Mixed Media paper by Canson - boy what a difference paper makes.  I'm usually doing my doodles in my found paper books, which are fantastic, and work perfectly.  But the flow of the sharpie on this paper is wonderful. Now - what would happen if I changed to a "good" pen.

Ode to Orange

Here is my completed orange piece.  After I outlined all the pieces, I went in a wrote how I felt about orange.  It is not a colour that I use very often in art, but I do like it in nature.  And, to be honest, most of the pieces I have done with orange have been ones that I don't mind.
The writing is in sentences, but the words jump around from piece to piece  so it takes a bit to make some sense of it.

August Art

In August I finally got around to finishing this particular page in my Paper Bag book.  The blue butterflies were left over from some Home Decor items we had from Stampin'Up!  My daughter had made a frame for a friend and these were left over.  I adhered them to the paper and ink sprayed some stencils over top - because they were plastic the ink came off the butterflies right away.  Eventually I doodled around the stencils and doodled on the butterflies.

My mentor Emily has moved beyond mandalas to these wonderful sort of creations.  I used some of my own designs, but I copied some of hers too so that I had them for reference in the future when I do more.

That's all for today.

Index Cards 29-34 -Catchup!

Obviously the prompt for this card was Ice Cream.

Canada Day 2015!

We were traveling this day to Scotland…I stamped some of my cards ahead of time with "travel" themed stamps so I could use them.

I love making these little stacks!

That the catchup for today.

Week Three - Icad 2015

This week theme was collage with varying prompts each day - I didn't always stay on prompt, but I did collage all week.
This first card started with a watercolour rainbow layer and I added layers of magazine colour, tissue and kleenex.

The prompt for today was Greeting card - so I took my "teeny tiny Greetings" stamp set from Stampin'Up and stamped all the greetings and punched them out with the word window.  I lined them up on the index card and covered them with a dark piece of printed tissue.  Afterwards, I circled each of the greeting with white Sharpie.

The theme for this day was Wasi Sabi - which I had to research.  I added one of the feathers that I've been picking up along my way to school.  Once I attached it, it was no longer perfect because it was spread apart, but it still presented beauty in it's new form.

This theme was treehouse - I took a whole different take on it and found a bird cage charm that I added to the limbs of the tree.  The wonderful birch paper is leftover from a Stampin'Up Thanksgiving kit.

When I read snow globe for the theme I saw blues, so I created a blue ombre effect on the index card, spread on some glue and sprinkled some flakes on it.  Once they were dry I spritzed it a bit with spray ink.

Colour wheel is pretty easy - and I entangled in each of the sections.

I didn't keep to any particular prompt for this final card of the week.  The background had been done previously with a gelli plate.  I just added some doodles and some writing I overapped to make it hard to readl.

Doodling Quotes

I was away from home for a weekend and I only brought my "Quote Book" along to work in.  I hadn't finished up some quotes in such a long time.  The book isn't full yet though - so I'll keep adding them.

Backgrounds and tangles

We had a Professional Development day last week and I took one of my doodle books along with me.  I didn't do all of these zentangles that day - but I finished them up that night.

I made this wonderful blue background for a Tangents & Tactics background…..and then covered it up with these little photos. Well, actually, we were suppose to add little magazine pictures, but I ended up zeroing in on black & white photos and then I had to find one of my favourite Katharine Hepburn!

Create everyday!
Enjoy yours!
