Art Journal Page Insert

Last night I worked on a collage and added an insert - just a little extra piece of paper that is adhered to the centre of the page spread with washi tape or any sort of tape you like.  It helps fatten up your book and adds interest as you're going through too.  This spread has oh so many layers of stuff..paint, rub-ons, paper, napkins, paint chips (actual - not the ones you use to decide paint colour, Washi tape, and sewing patterns.  Just a little bit of this and that thrown together.

Try not to become a paper hoarder - but also - keep little things that interest you to add to your collages and help to make them part of you.

Index Cards 59 - 62

I'm down to the last few index cards from the summer - the prompt for #59 was plaid….so I decided to create a plaid with some washi tape.

I don't remember the prompt for this one - it may have been to use a quote or a font

Prompt #61 - parachute.  These little parachutes are part of a stencil and I added the little bodies and strings.

And finished - until next summer.

Here are all of them together - it is blatantly obvious that I need to use a little less blue in my life!

Washi Tape and Spray Inks

Prompt 22 was to catalogue watercolour paints, acrylics or……washi tapes.  I decided on the washi tapes and end up up having to add an extra page to my book to fit most of them in….some of them still didn't make the cut.

Allison and I spent one night using our new spray inks and my  stencils.

When I doodle - I just doodle shapes or  mandalas - When Allison works - she ends up with songs lyrics.  I know she has done this for many years because I have her old High School Binder Dividers to prove it.  She expresses her song lyrics - and I love that idea.

Here is a marvellous new stencil I found.  It worked well with the spray paints.

This stencil worked out very well….in Allison's book.

Here she is encouraging a page to dry faster so she can move one.

I had a lot of fun working and creating next to my daughter.  Lots of fun!

Ocean Creativity

The 4th prompt for Prompt60 was creativity - to either find a quote about creativity, or write about creativity.  I decided to write what creativity meant to me - dividing each with washi tape - shaped in a box because sometimes you just have to force yourself outside of your box.

Prompt #5 was a double prompt of "blur/sharp and found poetry about the ocean.  My "sharp" portion is really just a piece of some fabulous paper I found in Banff that has swirly ocean wavy lines on it.  I blurred paint on the opposite side, looked through my stash of words to see why hit me in the topic of ocean - and finally stamped some shell images.

Phantom Contemplation

I spent yesterday flipping back and forth between cards and collages.
I finished up the Phantom page in my "Showbook" - an altered book I've started to keep track of the different shows I've been to - past and ongoing.

This was a page I'd been avoiding for quite a while in my Big Foundpaper book. (12x12)  The page came from the book originally and had a totally black background except for this woman. The book was all about Jazz and I used a lot of the photos from it to create two large collages for our musical basement.  I didn't want to lose her image because she is obviously moved by the music she is hearing.  I added some stencils and covered them with musical designed napkins.  I will add a mandala on top eventually.

Have a happy Tuesday.
