Mission Inspiration & Artist Gang

I haven't only been doing Icad cards - I've been doing other stuff too.  The above journal spread is the May Mission Inspiration.  The first thing we were to do was to use three colours to create drips on the page.  I used three shades of green and used them as the stems for the daises.  The daisies are created with molding paste which I outlined and coloured.  The butterflies are "collage elements".  I had to add some glitter or gems, so it was quite convenient that the yellow cut out butterfly already had gems on it in the photo - so I just took some gold gems and added them on top.  I love this challenge because the outcomes from everyone who participates are all so different.  So much fun!

This spread is from one of the Artist Gang from this year's Inspiration Wednesday.  I don't mind this page, but I am not one for leaving this much empty space - which is why I added so many speckles.  I do like how the right side of the page turned out though!

The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web.

Cats and Nats

This cat was done for one of the Tuesday Artists Gang.  I can't believe, really, how well this cat turned out.  I've never really tried drawing animals before and I love the doodling I've done on it.  The numbers were part of the background and I may do it differently if I were to do it again.

This weekend I worked in my show book to catchup on pages - AND get rid of the fodder out of my box. I can't believe it was 8 years ago that we saw this concert - it was wonderful.  Especially the part where she sang with her dad via a screen.  And that is what this particular "show book" is about - remembering all the fantastic shows I've gone to.

Elephants and watercolour

This piece is inspired by one of the Artist Gang, Nika Rouss, who are working along with Inspiration Wednesday.  I had to change mine a bit because I didn't have the same stencil she used for the ear and my head was positioned so I ended up having to add a second eye and tusk along with the whole trunk….but that's what makes it my own I guess.

This watercolour page is in preparation for doing some calligraphy writing in the bubbles and boxes.  I'm doing some practising first before I start writing on this - besides.  I sort of like it the way that it is.

Listen to your Heart

This is my rendition of the Artist Gang exercise this past week.  I didn't have exactly the same paint colours that Jennifer Engle used, but they were close.  I did have the same Donna Downey stencil for the circles but not for the script.  I didn't have the butterfly stencil that she used, but I have tons of butterfly stuff in my Stampin'Up! stash.
Finally, for the circle, I didn't have the same acetate sheets, so I used the Big Shot to cut out a circle from one of my window sheets, stitched around it with the pink thread, and then covered it with the Candy Dots that I still have, but are retired from Stampin'Up!.  I did have the Tim Holtz Small Talk stickers.
For the butterflies, I used the Swallowtail, which I cut out by hand, and Papillon Potpourri so I could use the punches that matched the stamps. I added little pieces of wire for their antennae and for the body of the Swallowtail, I strung some beads onto a wire along with a pearl for it's head.

So don't be afraid to do a project just because you don't have EVERYTHING the artist has used.  When you use your imagination and use what you have on hand, it truly becomes your piece of art.
