Hand Bound Books

I spent some time outside putting fabric on the spines of the covers I'm getting ready for my new books.
Next step was to sew the signatures together for the insides of the books.

Another day outside gluing the signatures together with a piece of fabric.

The books are finally ready with a wee bit of embellishment on the covers.

Create everyday
Even if it's a number of days in a row.

January 2015

I'm not sure that these photos are in any particular order other than I created them in January of this year.  I've not been myself and haven't gotten into my craft room as often as I'd like - so I thought I'd take the time to catch up on posting pictures of things I've worked on in hopes of catching up with you.

The top piece is a 24x12 spread collage of this that and the other thing that was lying on my desk.

In January I spent a lot of time working on binding found paper books.  I used my gelli plate to create some of the covers and I really liked how this one turned out.

Another book cover.

I'm sorry of sorry that this is in a book - I would like to recreate it on a canvas or piece that could be framed.

Bright and wonky play with paint.

Thanks for visiting

Book covers

I've been working on book covers again for "found paper" books.  I want to have a bunch ready to sell at the upcoming Teacher's Convention.  The above is a bit of a mode podgy - but it looks better than when it started!

A couple of nights ago I thought I'd experiment with my new round gelli plate on book covers.  I will be adding some extra colours to some, and some tissue paper and such - but I'm pleased with how they turned out.

Hope your new year is off to a creative start - it doesn't have to be big and elaborate, just try to
create something everyday.

Joan.

Documented Markers

Prompt #35 - Document Markers
This was an easy one to do (although the colours would be a bit different this year if I did it again).  I love our Stampin'Up! makers and it was fun to create a page documenting them in their colour groups.

I had a lot of fun this summer creating some found paper books.  I found some ratty old Hardy Boy books at Value Village - took their insides out and created art journals using the new binding process that Emily and Karly taught me earlier this year…which I have a brief description of in THIS POST.  I think one of the things I enjoy about making art journals is creating the covers.  I never know how they're going to turn out!

Have a fun day!

Weekend Collages

I worked on some collages this weekend - Saturday was a good creative day.  This first collage is in my "Showbook" - an altered books I've designated for remembering the shows that I've gone to - a place to put the ticket stubs and programs - other than in a box.
A couple of weeks ago we went to the Edmonton Symphony playing Gershwin and Denzal Sinclaire was the vocalist.  We've heard him before - he's awesome!  Very reminiscent of Nat King Cole!

This image I found in a magazine while I was in Houston at Stampin'Up! leadership.  I loved his jacket and knew I wanted to collage with him.  Yellow is not a favourite colour of mine - but I like how the page turned out.  Sorry it's a bit blurry!  The page is in my "paper bag book" - believe me - paper bags are a bit difficult to do collaging on - but I imagine once I work on the backside the whole page will be firmer.

I also created this cover for a new book I'm going to put together this week which will hold pages that I have done with my gelli plate.  It's going to be a wonderfully chubby little book!

I didn't get any doodling done yesterday - so I will probably make up for it today.
Have a good one!
