Buttons and Quotes

Today's icad prompt was "Hello, my name is…" and when I said that out loud and put my name in the blank, I started singing the song!  So I pulled out my jars of my Grandma's buttons….
and started sewing some on my index card.

Here is the quote page I did last night while watching tv with my daughter.

Hope your day went well!

icad Day 2 - Circus

The prompt for Day 2 of icad was circus.  I pulled the "Your Amazing" Stampin'Up! stamp set out of my stuff for my Open House on Friday and used the elephants from it.  I was also  able to find some of the Designer Series Paper with a circus theme - so now I'm wondering if I may end up  keeping the stamp set.  But I just may have to…..step right back!  Can't keep everything!

I'll be back tomorrow.
Have a great day.

icad2014 #1

Well - we're off and running! The theme for the first week of icad is "Text" - of any kind, cut out, written - and I don't have to use that prompt if I don't want to.
The daily prompt for the first day was "prism".
I drew the prism and then the spectrum coming out from it.  I had doodled on the face of the prism, but then decided that it would be a good place for the definition of prism -and it fit perfectly.  I have an old paperback dictionary that's falling apart, so it's become my "arting dictionary".

Having fun!
I'll be back soon with today's card -

icad2014 warmups

I'm totally today is the first day of this years "Index Card a Day" - icad.  Tammy gave us some warmup exercises to do and, although I didn't do all of them, I have a few to share.  The pieces in the photo above are my watercolour practice sheets which I've cut into index card sizes for icad.  I may not use them all this year - but they're ready if needed.

The second warmup exercise (the first was to do a puzzle of some sort - crossword, sudoku, jigsaw…I've been working my way through all my jigsaw puzzles, so I had that warmup covered!)….anyway, the second warm up was to write 3 Haiku poems - not my favourite poem type - but I managed to write two on art journal pages that I'd already completed.

I never got around to doing more doodles on this micro bead page - so the Haiku fit in perfectly.

Warmup #3 was to take an index card on an adventure and doodle your name.  My deck may not have been much of an adventure - but I got my name doodled.
Warmup #4 was to create a "mobile icad creation station".  I am using the same box I used last year - it's a Stampin'Up! Paper Pumkin box - perfect size!  I travel with my watercolours and a jar of Golden Self Leveling Gel for collaging on index cards as the need/inspiration arises.

There is one more warmup to do - I may get to it today - I'll share when it's done.
I will definitely be sharing my icad day 1 card!
Have a great creative day!

Ink Spray Mandala

I purchased some spray inks a while back and am learning how to work with them in my altered book.  I do like the way this page turned out, and the mandala I drew on it last night, but I have to admit that I need practice working with the sprays!  Something I'm more than willing to do.

Have a good day,

Watercolour Bubbles

Good gravy - it's been nearly a month since I've posted anything here.  I haven't been totally inactive, but I did lose my mojo for a while because I was sick.  I will post some of the things I've been working on over the next little while.

Today I'll share one of my favourites - it's my bubble page from my watercolour class.  I could become addicted to doing these - so much fun!  And, of course, my first one had to hav

Lunch Mandala

Not a fantastic photo - but this is the mandala I've been working on at lunch time this week - lots of fine lines that are hard to see in the photo.  I'm trying to keep things more open in my sections - just sometimes wish I could keep things more symmetrical  - but that all comes with practice.

Have a great Friday!
