Mandalas and Leaves

Just a quick share today of a mandala I was working on during lunch time this week - and finished yesterday afternoon.
The background of this page is created from packing tape strips that have been used to clean off my gelli plate, and then I "stamped" over top of them with a Gerber Daisy and paint.  Fun, fun, fun!

More Flower Prints

I did some more flower prints tonight.  I put some into my Big Book of Bags - a found paper book I created made out of paper bags from various travels.  I put various sizes into it with just this sort of printing in mind…..
The above is the bottom most layer of my printing.

Second bag layer

And a narrow top layer.   I'm going to have fun doodling or collaging on this.

That's it for now - have a good day!

Flower Power

I had some fun yesterday making prints with a flower!   Oh what fun!

Once I filled my own books, Allison asked that I make some prints in hers….Even after I was done that I was able to add some to one of my pages in my Big Book - a little paint goes a long way!

After our family dinner, I was able to sit down for a bit and add some more layers to one of my books.  I think I'm happy with the way it is - not sure that I'll add anything else.

And finally - a zentangle to finish off the night.

Hope you have a great day!
Thanks for visiting.

Wine & Art Night

Thought I'd share a bit of my weekend with you.
I helped Emily celebrate a milestone birthday by attending her Wine & Art evening.  What a blast!
One of her dogs asked to come up on my lap - he snuggled down and relaxed while I worked.

I painted these paisley designs and the next day….

I added some doodles to them.  I'm not finished with the page yet - I'm going to do something with the background….
Until then - create every day!

Double spread Zentangle

I have a large found paper book that I created which is 12 x 12.  The page sizes inside vary quite a bit, and I love working in it.  I did this piece back in December.
The paper is actually one of my Stampin'Up! place mats.  I covered it with circles and a couple of rectangles. (which I traced!)  Then I filled all the spaces with different zentangles.  It is one of my favourite pieces that I've done.

I still didn't get any doodling done last night - I made cookies in the afternoon to take to church for our soup supper before our Lenten service and then I had choir practice…..busy busy!  So I'm leaving you with blasts from the past.
Have a good day….here are some close ups of the two pages.

Tid Bits…..

Just a couple tid bits to share this evening - I have a doodle - but it's not quite finished yet.  I did do some more gelli printing last night and today I peeled off the paint - not that I needed to -it's just one of those things, a wee bit of a tear and ya just gotta pick at it until everything comes off.  I do like the leftover splatters on the handle of my brayer.

I also like the leftover paint from the piece of brown paper that I use as an over sheet when I'm making my prints.  I'll be tearing it apart to add to collages!

Leftovers are always fun to use up - as long as ya do use them up and not just pile them up.  That's the trick!

Thanks for visiting.

Weekend Collages

I worked on some collages this weekend - Saturday was a good creative day.  This first collage is in my "Showbook" - an altered books I've designated for remembering the shows that I've gone to - a place to put the ticket stubs and programs - other than in a box.
A couple of weeks ago we went to the Edmonton Symphony playing Gershwin and Denzal Sinclaire was the vocalist.  We've heard him before - he's awesome!  Very reminiscent of Nat King Cole!

This image I found in a magazine while I was in Houston at Stampin'Up! leadership.  I loved his jacket and knew I wanted to collage with him.  Yellow is not a favourite colour of mine - but I like how the page turned out.  Sorry it's a bit blurry!  The page is in my "paper bag book" - believe me - paper bags are a bit difficult to do collaging on - but I imagine once I work on the backside the whole page will be firmer.

I also created this cover for a new book I'm going to put together this week which will hold pages that I have done with my gelli plate.  It's going to be a wonderfully chubby little book!

I didn't get any doodling done yesterday - so I will probably make up for it today.
Have a good one!

Bitty Zentangle Squares

Here is a bunch of little zentangles that I did on a calendar grid in my Firebook found paper book.  I started working on it yesterday and now that I'm looking at it on this post, I can see that I stopped shading a block before I finished…..got called away to something or other and totally forgot.  Oh well - that's me!

Have a good day.

Mandala Finished...

Well, here we have it - finally finished.
I finished filling in the mandala yesterday and painted it with watercolour last night.  There are spots where the paint ran onto the black - so I may darken those again with Sharpie.

I'm hoping to get some collages done today - or some new books put together.  We'll see what the day holds.
Hope you have some sort of creativity in your day.

Mandala Beginning

There are those days when you think you're going to get a bit more doodling done - but it doesn't happen.  This is only a 6x6 book and I've worked on this twice already.  I'm vowing to add some insides to it today!  I've done this on a piece of watercolour paper - so it will be fun to colour in too!

Here are a few pages that I completed in November 2013.

I love these stacked doodles - need to do a few more I think - these were done on our trip to New York.

Have a great day!

Green Music Altered Book Doodles

The first time I visited Emily's home to do some acting with her, so told me I could select a book from her stash to use as an altered book.  She had an old textbook on how to teach music - so being a music teacher - that's the one I chose.  It's been over a year since I started it, and I haven't finished all the pages yet - but I've only got 4-5 left to do.  I thought today I would post the mandalas and doodles that can be found within it's covers.
